The Food and Beverage Industry Still Contribute as The Highest Revenue

The food and beverage industry is still playing as the highest revenue contributor in the manufacturing sector. This year, the food and beverage industry continues to record a significant growth. Even in the second quarter of 2017, the food and beverage industry recorded an increase of 7.19 percent. These achievements are contribute to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of non-oil and gas industry that reached 34.17 percent or we can say as the highest, compared to other sectors.
"Indonesia with a population of 258.7 million people is a very potential market. If the food and beverage industry pretty much aware of this potential, it will grow better. It also needs to target the opportunity of export share, "said Director General of Agro Industry Ministry of Industry Panggah Susanto in Jakarta, Saturday (12/8).
According to Panggah, the national food and beverage industry has a superior competitiveness in the international arena. We can see it from the contribution of export value of food and beverage products including palm oil in January to June 2017 which reached USD 15.4 billion. This performance experienced a positive trade if compared with imports of food and beverage products in the same period of USD 4.8 billion.
Kemenperin Continue to Run Link And Match Program Between SMK and The Industry
Panggah also revealed that several large and medium scale food and beverage companies have been interested to expand their business by investing in new investments. When we see it from the realization of food industry investment in the first half of 2017, that reached up to Rp 21.6 trillion for domestic and foreign investment amounted to USD 1.2 billion. This achievement increased compared to the same period in 2016 for domestic investment reached Rp 16.6 trillion and PMA of USD 988 million.
"In addition to taking an active role in creating a conducive investment climate, "Kemenperin" also continues to facilitate the promotion of national food and beverage industry products both domestic and abroad to enhance the growth of this strategic industry," said Panggah.
For example, participated in the event of Jakarta International Food Expo (JIFEX) 2017. The event took place on 10 - 12 August 2017 at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta and was attended by more than 1,000 participants. JIFEX 2017 becomes a one stop event for stakeholders of the food and beverage industry to discuss current issues, share knowledge to promote products and develop networking.
