PT Propan Dekorindo Raya is a subsidiary company of PT Propan Raya. The company continues to expand their business in the country by the establishment of its new factory located in Tangerang, Banten. This expansion aim to improve competitiveness in the domestic and global paint industry. The new plant will produce water-based environmental friendly paint products (water based).

"We appreciate this expansion as a commitment to innovate and increase investment in Indonesia. This effort will have a positive impact on the national economy, "said Director General of Chemical, Textile and Multifarious Industries (IKTA) of the Ministry of Industry, Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono at the inauguration of PT. Propan Dekorindo Raya in Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday (5/9).

According to the data, investment on the new plant reaches up to IDR 250 billion. As for the production capacity, the factory can produce 100.000 tons of paint per year. With the addition of new factories, the number of factories owned by Propan Raya become three factories with a total production capacity of 200.000 tons per year.

According to Sigit, the domestic paint industry is still good as the incessant development of property is driven by the government. In fact, the paint industry also plays an important role in supporting other industries such as the furniture industry, the toy industry of wood and other creative industries.

"We hope that PT. Propan Dekorindo Raya can cooperate with other businesses, thus reducing the import of similar products while saving the country's foreign exchange, "he said.

On the other hand, President Director of PT Propan Raya Hendra Adidarma admit that water-soluble paint is more environmentally friendly than solvent-based paint.

"In addition to being environmentally unfriendly, solvent based paints also contain volatile organic compounds (VOC) that are harmful to both the body and the environment. By switching to water-based paint, solvent emissions can be suppressed, "he explained.

Meanwhile, CEO of PT Propan Raya Kris Rianto Adidarma revealed, the new factory will be operated with the latest technological machines named Rapid Production System (RPS) originating from Germany.

"The technology is the only available in Asia Pacific. With this technology, the whole process of production to finished goods, will be more environmentally friendly," he explained.

According to Kris, RPS technology is only used in two countries i.e. in Germany and one factory in Indonesia owned by PT Propan Raya.

"The advantages of this RPS technology are, able to produce very fast, which is 25 tons per batch within four hours. Then, the products produced consistent and stable, flexible and space saving, "he said.

PT Propan Raya is a market leader in the field of wood powder (wood finish), even a wood paint supplier for export-oriented national companies. Propan has also started to develop products such as wall paint, paint iron, natural stone paint, car paint, to paint the ship.
