Nissan Build its 3rd Factory in Purwakarta

PT Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) continues to strengthen its business in Indonesia. It is proved by their commitment to starts a development of their new factory in Purwakarta. The new plant will become the 3rd NMI property in Purwakarta. 


It is planned that the new factory will produce engines and transmission for Nissan vehicle. The establishment of the new plant consuming funds up to 3.4 billion yen or around IDR 437 billion.

President of NMI group, Antonio Zara said that the 3000 square meters factory area will be produce engine, "So it will allowing NMI to make engines and transmissions locally," said Antonio in the project groundbreaking onThursday, September 8, 2016.


This factory will have production capacity up to 96 thousand unit per year, and will start operations in September 2017. Then, a production facility that will be used in new factory is located in the area of the plant that has been established.


Currently, Nissan already has two factories in Purwakarta. The 2nd factory which was inaugurated in May 2014 , totally spend an investment of 33 billion yen or around Rp 3.7 trillion. Since the new facility is in operation, the installed capacity NMI in Indonesia increased from 100 thousand units to 250 thousand units per unit.


Antonio said that the development of this new factory shows the long term commitment of Nissan in Indonesia. "Nissan already started investment in Indonesia since 2001, the new factory establishment is showing our commitment in Indonesia."


In the early phase, this factory makes car with a brand name Datsun and production capacity about 65-80 thousand units per year. Vice President of NMI, Fumitoshi Yoshikawa, said the new factory is implementing the standard "Nissan production way", which produces high-quality engine and transmission.
