Ministry of Industry to Collaborate Cross-Sector Industry to Achieve The 4.0 Industrial Era

The Ministry of Industry is probably one of the most necessary ministry for Indonesia, for its enormous role in Indonesian industrial economy. It is no wonder if the Ministry of Industry continues to encourage developments in various industrial sectors.


The one that currently the ministry want to achieve is the 4.0 Industrial Era. Our government through the Ministry of Industry is working hard to build an ecosystem of innovation. The ecosystem of innovation itself is judged as the right step in the effort to implement the fourth industrial revolution in accordance with Roadmap Making Indonesia 4.0.


To build an ecosystem of innovation, the government invites several sectors and involving government, academia, and business players. This cross-sector synergy is expected to accomplish the goal of Roadmap Making Indonesia 4.0, one of which is to make Indonesia in the top 10 of the world's strongest economies in 2030.


Ngakan Timur Antara as the Head of Industrial Research and Development Agency (BPPI) said that President Jokowi has appointed Ministry of Industry as a leading ministry to prepare the implementation strategy of industry 4.0.


Research implementation, engineering, patent filing, up to commercialization of research results should be conducted jointly with all interested parties. To that end, the Ministry of Industry through BPPI continues to socialize and discuss with various parties regarding this goal.


One of the attempt is by conducting talk shows and discussion forums with speakers from ministries and related institutions, local government, companies and industry associations, and academics. The talk shows and discussions were held in Bogor on 23 April 2018.


"We also presenting speakers from experts and technology providers," said Ngakan.


The digital technology experts presented are Onno W. Purbo and Adi Indrayanto. There are also invited technology stakeholders as speakers, such as BPPT, Microsoft Indonesia, Schneider Indonesia, Indolakto, Unilever, Chandra Asri, Ecogreen Oleochemical, Sritex, Astra Otoparts, Samsung Indonesia and Evercoss.


"Global consultants AT Kearney and McKinsey, will also participate in the event," he said.


In the talk show and discussion forum, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between R & D institutions under BPPI with several industries, for example, Balai Besar Keramik (BBK) with PT Sigma Mitra Sejati and PT Antam Tbk related to the utilization of synthetic bone ash and cupel, then Balai Penelitian dan Standardisasi Industri (Baristand Industries) Surabaya with PT Hartano Istana Teknologi and PT Panasonic Gobel Eco Solution Manufacturing Indonesia in the framework of R & D cooperation in field of design and standardization of electronics and telematics equipment, and Baristand Industri Bandar Lampung with PT Tedco Agri Makmur modular engineering field of TCP modbus based module Tapioca industrial protocol.


On the occasion, Kemenperin also showcased the results of R & D related to Industry 4.0 and featured five industries that have been defined as priority sector in the implementation of Industry 4.0 in the early stages, they are food and beverage, textile, chemical, electronics and automotive industries.


According to Ngakan, implementation of the 4.0 industry will have a major impact on Indonesia's manufacturing industry, especially in terms of strengthening net export positions, increasing productivity over costs, and building local innovation capabilities.


Therefore, in the effort to build an ecosystem of innovation, the government expects the participation of R & D institutions throughout Indonesia, and BPPI as the main support for the establishment of innovation ecosystem, to be able to produce quality research and give benefit to the national industry.
