The Ministry of Industry place targets for the growth of non-oil and gas manufacturing industry in 2018 by 5.67 percent. To achieve these targets, the Ministry of Industry will take several strategic steps, i.e. creating a conducive business climate and legal industry, adopt the latest technology to encourage quality improvement, efficiency and productivity, and providing facilities such as fiscal incentives.

The availability of raw materials, competitive energy prices, competent human resources (HR), and the ease of market access and financing, are expected to boost the growth of domestic manufacturing industries in all subsectors, especially in basic metal, food and beverage industries, transportation vehicle, machinery and equipment, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and electronics.

"We are optimistic that the Indonesian industry will be able to grow even higher. Therefore, it is necessary to work together with all stakeholders to carry out strategic steps in achieving the growth target of the industry, "said Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto at the National Seminar on Industry Outlook 2018 in Jakarta, Monday (11/12).

Minister of Industry affirmed that various potentials and opportunities to accelerate industrial growth should be utilized optimally to achieve a higher quality and sustainable economic growth.

According to Airlangga, until now there are various positive efforts that have been done by the government to the development of national industry, for example, increasing competitiveness index, the increasing amount of investment in the industrial sector, employment absorption, industry downstream achievements, increasing number of small and medium-sized industries that applied the digital economy.

"In fact, vocational education also continues to grow and produce certified labor. All these efforts and achievements cannot be separated from the role of the business world, especially from the industry players, government agencies both at the central and regional levels and the people of Indonesia in general, "he explained.

In the third quarter of 2017, the growth of Indonesia's non-oil and gas processing industry reached 5.49 percent or higher than the national economic growth of 5.06 percent.
