Indonesia Positioned in Ranked 10 as the World’s Top Manufacturing Industry

Previously, International Yearbook of Industrial Statistic 2016 published by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) released the list of 10 world’s top manufacturing industry. Interestingly, Indonesia became a part of the top 10 world’s manufacturing industry, and surpassed the other industrialized countries such as the UK, Russia, and Canada. On this achievement, Minister of Industry feel optimistic to promote domestic manufacturing industry in the years ahead.

 

As one method to improve the manufacturing industry potential, the Ministry of Industry went to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to meet with UNIDO in order to discuss the improvement of the competitiveness of the industry in Indonesia. The way to go through is development of green industry, which is in line with the vision of UNIDO in industrial development efforts to create inclusive and sustainable.

 

"In addition, we also highlight the role of industrialization as a driver of national economic growth," said Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartanto after doing One on One Meeting with the Director General of UNIDO Li Yong on the sidelines of a working visit to represent the President on the activities of Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit (GMIS) 2017 Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Monday (27/3).

 

According to the Minister of Industry, as well as following the discussion of the project agreement of cooperation in the UNIDO-Indonesia Country Program (ICP) 2016-2020. For example, for the application of the principles of green industry, the joint efforts will be made as to promote efficiency energy in small and medium industries in Indonesia.

 

Meanwhile, to enhance the capacity of national industry, Indonesia is expected to switch from selling raw commodities into manufactured exports.

 

Central Bureau of Statistics Marked The Production Growth on Manufacturing Industry

 

For information, if we see from the statistic data, throughout 2016, non-oil and gas processing industry cumulatively grew about 4.42 percent, by contributing to the national economy reached 18.20 percent, it is the highest contribution compared to other sectors. In 2017, non-oil and gas processing industry is projected to grow in the range of 5.2 to 5.4 percent economic growth target of 5.1 to 5.4 percent.
