Domestic Toys Industry to Compete In the Global World

The domestic toys industry continues to show the positive progress, even in the global world. This is proved by the increasing amount of export value in every year. Domestic toys products are claimed to have the best quality and able compete in the world market.


"We appreciate PT Mattel Indonesia in developing the toy industry in Indonesia, and has been operating since 1992. This is shows Mattel's confidence in the investment climate in Indonesia," said Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Industry at PT Mattel Indonesia's 25th Anniversary in Cikarang, Bekasi, Monday (4/11).


Minister of Industry appreciate the performance of PT Mattel Indonesia, because the absorption of labor is as much as 10 thousand people with the average export value in the last five years reached above USD150 million per year.


In addition, the Minister of Industry admitted that he is very proud because Indonesia is the world's largest producer of Barbie dolls (produced by PT Mattel Indonesia). The company has outperformed China's production by supplying 60 percent to all global markets or. Interestingly, Indonesia has a toy car factory with a large production capacity of 50 million units per year.


Not only in terms of astonishing amount of production, Airlangga said this factory has also applied the working system in the era of Industry 4.0. The 4th industrial revolution is the stage of industrial development that combines human power, robotics and information technology in its production process.


"Not only able to produce Barbie and Hot Wheels toys, but this company also has outstanding engineering and innovation capabilities. National engineers in here can make precision machines. The strength of manufacturing here based on local talent. Moreover, today in-launching the Barbie Batik, shows that Mattel will branding the original product of Indonesia, "he explained.


In addition, Airlangga expressed his gratitude for PT Mattel Indonesia's participation in a vocational education program that links and matches between Vocational High School and industry. This effort is in line with the government's target to build a competent workforce according to the needs of the industry, especially in the toy industry that has uniqueness and requires special skills.
